The guide to the perfect family beach
A day at the sea with kids is wonderful — if you pick the right beach. We gathered what to check before you go, and the beaches especially suited for families.
A good family beach combines a few things: a lifeguard on duty in season, calm and shallow water near the shore, and shade plus facilities like showers and toilets. Before entering the water, always check the flag colour and the sea conditions on the beach page, and stay within the area marked by the lifeguard.
Arrive early in the morning or toward late afternoon — UV radiation peaks midday (roughly 10:00–16:00), and the heat is lower at the edges of the day. Bring a hat, water and sunscreen reapplied every two hours. You can follow the live UV index on the app’s UV screen.
The list below includes the beaches we tagged as family-friendly. Each one shows sea conditions, UV index and community jellyfish and crowd reports — so you can pick the right beach for the right day.
